The HDIWG would like to invite injured workers to participate in the 2020 Injured Worker Speaker School. The Speaker School was originally scheduled to begin in April 2020, but due to Covid-19, we had to postpone the date until we can all meet again.
Through the Speaker School participants learn how to develop their own speeches about their experience as injured workers. In approximately 12 sessions participants learn how to be motivated, to engage, and to build confidence and learn how to create a speech. The motto of the Speaker School is “from venting to convincing.”
Injured workers also learn how to express their lived experiences having an injury and having to confront the WSIB. It is also a wonderful way to understand the history of the injured workers, the creation of the Workers’ Compensation Board and the importance of it today. Last but not least, to help participants develop better public speaking skills in an atmosphere of peer support and mutual aid.
Please contact the office to find out when the next School is scheduled.
