CANADA POST DISRUPTION UPDATE
Canada Post and CUPW have reached a tentative agreement. Starting January 7, 2026, all health care benefit payment cheques will be sent by Canada Post. Starting January 12, 2026, all wage-loss cheques and cheques for businesses will be sent Canada Post.
Canada Post resumed most mail services October 11, 2025, however WSIB continued some measures to ensure customers received the best support possible and to avoid potential risk of service being impacted through the holidays. With all mail services resuming through Canada Post, WSIB is returning to normal business operations:
• All cheque types issued by the WSIB will be sent through Canada Post. Customers should receive cheques within 10 business days from the date it was sent.
• WSIB will no longer accept a verbal intent to object (ITO). Customers wanting to object to a decision will need to complete an Intent to object form and submit it through their online services, or by mail.
• The time limit for appealing decisions will return to normal — 30 days to object to a WSIB decision about return-to-work and six months to object to any other WSIB decision.
WSIB will continue to monitor the situation until the agreement is ratified to ensure there are no further impacts to service. If you have any questions, please visit the Canada Post resumption landing page.
