Mission Statement
The Hamilton & District Injured Workers Group is dedicated to helping the injured and disabled and their families obtain their rights to justice, dignity, equality, health & safety, and security.
We assist in organizing and educating to advance the interests of our members. We invite the co-operation of persons who are dedicated to the abolition of injustice and exploitation of all those injured and disabled.
Our Services
As an Injured Worker Outreach Service Group we offer free assistance at any point in the WSIB claim process up to appeals. Our services are by appointment only. We cannot provide representation at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, but we can refer clients to other service providers that may be able to offer representation. We cannot provide legal advice, but we can provide general advice regarding workers’ compensation.
- Assistance in filing a claim – assisting with the process of filing a claim and ensuring appropriate documentation is included
- Educational seminars and workshops for injured persons
- Peer Support meetings
- Referrals to specialized organizations
- Support with Return-to-Work (RTW) and retraining – Specific guidance, information and support to injured people regarding RTW and/or retraining.
